What will I learn?

The aim of this course is to enable learners to understand why people use care services, and to develop the knowledge and value base required for working in contemporary care practice in settings such as health care and social.

You will learn about:

  • Human Development and Behaviour
  • First Aid
  • Dementia Awareness
  • Employability Skills
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Literacy
  • Numeracy

What qualifications do I need?

National 4 qualification is preferable in any subject.

To be considered for a place on the course, you must:

  • Include a personal statement within your applications

  • Provide one satisfactory reference

  • Provide proof of your qualifications

What can I do after?

After successfully completing this course, you will have the knowledge and skills needed to apply for a caring role.

Or you could develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:

  • Access to Caring 2



Programme Information

Start Date: August 2021 for 18 weeks opportunity to progress to Access to Caring 2 in January 2021

Duration: Classes 9am until 4pm / 3 days per week excluding placement /days.
