The programme which was originally developed to fill the gap when the BBC trainee programme ceased to exist at that time, it was written and developed by our Clydebank team, Sharon MacFarlane, now Head of Hair, Beauty and Makeup in UHI Inverness College and current West College Scotland Curriculum Quality Leader, Morven Aikman who worked closely with the Head of Makeup at Scottish Television and the Head of Make-up and Wigs at Scottish Opera to plan, design, and validate the course with SQA to be delivered in Scotland.
Since then, the programme has enjoyed significant growth across the country, including diversification into wider industry qualifications and delivery across our other campuses in Greenock and Paisley.
The college has produced countless success stories with alumni going on to achieve incredible things within industry from West End wig master Craig Forrest Thomas and BAFTA accredited Laura McGowan to TV and celebrity makeup artist Lauren O’Donnell and Vieve owner and major makeup influencer Jamie Genevieve, to name just a few. On the night you can meet our students, past and present, including On-May Yeung who is starring in Glow Up, currently airing on our screens on BBC3 Tuesday evenings.
At this milestone event we will be showcasing our past and current students in our Hall of Fame, sharing their experience of industry and the highs and lows of a career in Makeup Artistry. There will also be a showcase of students work, demonstrating the ambitious standards of skillset within our current cohort and celebrating our amazing alumni from Clydebank, Paisley and Greenock campuses. We are also delighted to welcome pop up shops from a range of industry leading brands including NARS, Mac, Benefit, BPerfect Cosmetics, Treasure House Makeup, Urban Decay, Nanshy, MouldLife, All Talent Agency and more.
