Daniel Trainer, third year plumbing apprentice student at our Clydebank Campus, and his lecturer Allan Bauld attended the annual SNIPEF SkillPlumb Competition taking place from Friday 9 to Saturday 10 June at Dundee and Angus College.

Top apprentices from all the Scottish Colleges were gathered to test their skills and show their talent during the two-day competition. Students had to complete two practical tasks: constructing a complex copper pipework from a drawing in four hours; and building a lead model incorporating bossing and forming and lead burning in two and half hour. The third and final task was a general theory test.

Daniel’s copper and lead models (header picture) as well as solid knowledge enabled him to secure a third place in the national competition.

“This is a fantastic achievement for Daniel and a well-deserved recognition of his hard work at the College. It also comes to recognise the outstanding support from his employer Philip Massey, Plumbing & Heating Services from Dumbarton.” – Allan Bauld, WCS Clydebank Campus Building Services Curriculum Enhancement Lecturer

Daniel won £150 and a drill donated by Worcester Bosch.
