Heather McAlister, WCS HNC Engineering Systems Course Graduate, is now a Student in Bachelors Degree in Technological Education at the University of Glasgow. We've asked her three questions about her journey at College and into University. Read what she says:
How did the course help you achive your ambitions?
Gaining the HNC definitely helped me get into the University of Glasgow. The units I gained covered a lot of what the University requirements and my time at College showed that I could cope well with a first year university level of study.
Would you recommend the course and why?
Definitely consider doing this course as it opens up a lot of prospects. It may help you get a job or an apprenticeship, or like me, a place in Hiher Education. I gained confidence in myself thanks to the supportive staff members. They make you realise that with hard work everything is accomplishable My time at College was also great because I got on very well with my classmates. We constantly helped each other and used our skills and talents to help those who needed it most.
What advice would you give to prospective students?
Be prepared to work hard. You have to be strong-willed and keep your goal in mind to stay motivated. Keep up-to-date with deadlines and don't miss class so that you don't fall behind. Though if you do, the lecturers are very easy to talk to and will help. Don't hesitate to ask for help!
