Course Aims

This 2 day Centre Lathe Turning training course gives candidates the skills and knowledge they need safely to operate a vertical milling machine to produce engineering products.

This course is aimed at candidates who have little or no experience of Centre Lathe Turning or those who simply need to refresh their skill and knowledge in this area. It is ideal for those delegates who wish to be able to manufacture parts and components or want to broaden their overall engineering skills.

  • Awareness presentation
  • Safety consideration
  • Machine controls and operation
  • Types of turning tools
  • Speed and feed calculations
  • Tool setting
  • Turning stepped shafts
  • Controlling the cut
  • Drilling – centre drills, holes, drilling to depth, reaming and tapping

Entry Requirements

This course is aimed at candidates who have little or no experience of Centre Lathe Turning or those who simply need to refresh their skill and knowledge in this area.

Exam

Whilst there is no formal assessment on this course, delegates will need to demonstrate that they can operate a centre lathe and carry out turning operations safely and effectively to accurately produce components.  On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a college certificate.
