Take a look at our HND Creative Industries students’ short film which follows the progress of an empty site on the former John Brown's shipyard being developed into a state of the art leisure centre.

Five HN students Thomas Murray, Garry Bennett, Scott McLeod, Reese Bryce and Robyn Abisoye embarked on the project in early 2016, not long after BAM construction first broke the ground at what is the site of the largest shipyards in Scotland.

The project includes interviews from staff from West Dunbartonshire Council, BAM Construction, West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust and even some West College Scotland students and staff feature. Why don’t you take a look and see if you spot any familiar faces?

Our media students got to put College drone to good use and captured some stunning riverside shots of the build in progress.

Kate Cotter, Media Lecturer at the Clydebank Campus commented, ‘It was great to see the students come together and develop this short film. It’s a really nice piece, which they’ve put a lot of hard work and thought into. It’s always great experience to work to a live brief set by clients. We’ve had extremely positive feedback on the media clip and we hope that both the Council and the Leisure Trust can use it for promotional purposes.’

Student Garry Bennett who provided the voiceover for the short film commented, ‘This was a good project to work on as it was literally being built right next to the College. We got to see the transformation happen in front of our eyes every day which was pretty cool.’

Ronnie Dinnie, Strategic Lead Environment and Neighbourhood from West Dunbartonshire Council commented, ‘ We are very proud of Clydebank Leisure Centre and it is certainly proving to be very popular with local fitness fanatics, as well as with the children and local groups who all use the facilities there. This video created by students at West College Scotland is a brilliant advertisement for the Leisure Centre and the students can be rightly proud of their work.'
