What will I learn?

This is an entry level course to introduce candidates to moving and handling. This course is designed to raise awareness of the principles of safe moving and assisting of individuals in a care setting. The course includes the following topics:

  • Manual handling legislation
  • Risk assessment
  • Effective moving and assisting techniques
  • The anatomy of the spine and causes of back pain
  • Moving and Assisting Aids in a Care Setting
  • Incident Reporting

What qualifications do I need?

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, as it is delivered online it would be beneficial if the candidate had basic competence in IT and the internet.

This course does not require a personal statement.

What can I do after?

The course is a good starting point for those individuals who are interested in a career in health and social care. It is also an attractive option to those in employment who wish to undertake subject specific continuous professional development.
